A revision to published measures

The Veterans Benefits Administration says its Appeals Modernization Act metrics reports were updated on October 15 to correct totals in three reporting sections. The agency attributes the changes to improvements in business reporting logic.

The notice identifies Parts 1(N), 1(K) and 1(L). The reporting page provides links to monthly spreadsheets and separate congressionally mandated reports.

Revised aggregate totals should not be interpreted as a decision about an individual veteran’s appeal. A statistical report and a case-status notice serve different purposes.

For readers following appeals performance, keep the downloaded report’s date and note whether a later version replaces it. Before comparing two periods, check that the definitions and reporting methods are consistent. Without that step, an apparent change may partly reflect how the numbers were produced rather than a change in the underlying workload.
